Today, I’m going to be updating my readers on the status of my home. Many who have been following these posts for a while now know how many hours we’ve spent working. However, I must confess that my dad has spent the most time on this house. He’s spent many of his vacation hours working to get me ready to move.
As of today, the roof has been completed and we are approved by the inspector. We were all thrilled to hear that, if there is one thing I’ve learned so far is that the roof is the most stressful thing to do. So we were excited to hear that part of the job is done.
We have also begun to paint the inside of the house. As you may remember from my last post I had reveled my color choices, or the ones I was considering. Today, I get to reveal those to you! The house as it is– is a night and day difference on the inside. We still have not painted the outside of the house yet, but we are getting closer to being able to do that very soon. So watch for more post to reveal the outside paint choices.
There have been many things we have been working on. Dad has taken down that stone wall completely. He put up sheet rock to cover that spot. We have also discovered that when taking up the remainder of the carpets that at one point there had been a wall between the living room and dinning room. So we decided to put one back up. Mainly, we decided this because I had no place to put my entertainment center in the living room. By putting that wall there, it gave me that space I needed. It also gave me a space just for my dinning room table. Now, I can’t wait to see the furniture there! That will be amazing.
Here is a picture of that wall my father put in. Also, you can tell the color of paint I choose. I chose a mint greenish color. Here’s another close up of that color:
Not as close up as I’d like, but I think you can get an idea of the color! Below, I’m posting the samples from the last post for you to see the differences.
Can you see the differences the color makes in my house? It was once an all white color, and now, it has life to it! Also, I will post a before picture of that wall where the stone wall was, so you can see what a difference the new wall makes.
Okay, this is not the best example I have, but it is all I have of pictures, so it will have to do! You can see the open area and how there is no space for an entertainment center. You can also see that old nasty carpet that had been there before. You can also get a sense for the differences between the stone wall and no stone wall. So there is a big difference in between the before’s and after’s.
Now, we have also taken up all the carpet in the living room, dinning room, and down the hallway. I’m showing those pictures as well. This will help to see the differences here too.
See that nice beautiful hard wood floor? Isn’t it lovely? You can also see the green in the hallways too. But, we have also been working on that pool in the backyard too. Remember how yucky it looked? Here’s a before photo:
It doesn’t look very inviting like this does it? Well, it doesn’t look like that anymore. It’s looking more like a swimming pool, and we are almost to the point we can go actually go swimming. How cool is that? Here’s a shot of the pool now:
What a difference right? We are almost able to go swimming That’s my dog in the front there enjoying the outside. He’s such a sweet baby! Okay, so now, I’m going to show you an up close version of the water, just so you can see how differently it looks. There is still much work to be done. There is some black spots on the bottom that has to be treated. Some things we will be working on very soon.
As you can probably tell, we’ve been vacuuming and pulling out gunk for a week now. But boy does it look much better! So that’s the end of this post. I’ll be adding more later on the closer we get to being finished.
I’m going to close this post with a hibiscus plant that is in the front of my flower bed. It has finally begun to bloom and boy is it beautiful! So I hope you enjoy it!
See those beautiful pink flowers? Aren’t they gorgeous? Hibiscus plants are one of my favorite flowers for a garden, besides roses. Those are my all time favorite in a garden! Here’s a close up.
Here’s a final photo of me and my dog on our front steps. My nephew has been visiting this week so he was able to take the picture for me!
